On Monday, March 2, 2020 the school board approved the Student Invest Account, (SIA) application. The district plans to use some of the SIA funds for a new Middle School Principal/Special Education Director. This means we will be returning to a three school system in the Harrisburg School District. The elementary school will be grades k-4 all in one location. The two new classrooms enable the 4th grade to become part of the main building. The middle school will be grades 5 – 8. The 5th grade classrooms will be self-contained and remain in the current location. The 6th grade classrooms will be mostly self-contained and in their current location.
The 5th and 6th grade students will have lunch together. All students will be together once a month for the monthly awards assemblies. The 7th and 8th grade classrooms will be in the main hall of the middle school. The 5th grade and 6th grade students will not have any classes or interaction with the 7th and 8th grade students on a daily basis.
We are interviewing candidates for the principal position during the week of March 9. Once we have the middle school principal position filled, we will bring them in for a meet and greet sometime in April for parents and community. At that meeting, we will have more details concerning teaching assignments for the middle school positions. It is an exciting day to be an Eagle in Harrisburg.
